Just One Guitar Players Thoughts... : Peavey Chord Buddy Guitar Learning System
I thought this was one of the coolest and most innovative products I've seen on Shark Tank.
The idea behind this product is genius! And is the reason I give it 5 stars. But seriously $50-$75?? It's a piece of plastic! I fully understand the "Pursuit of Happiness" but for this price it should be made of gold.
Realistically with this device you're not learning to play guitar any more than you are teaching a child to read without learning the alphabet. All you're doing is delaying the actual learning process. For example, removing of the clips to eventually learn to play the actual chord. Why not Just start by playing the actual chord. If you want to learn to play guitar you need to learn these chords period.
G,D,A and C are the easiest chords to play on guitar (There are literally thousands) And can be learned and memorized by probably anyone in under 30 minutes of practice (mastering obviously will take much longer with or without any outside help). There are 5 year olds playing far more complex chords and its because they've first learned to play the above mentioned 4 very easy chords.
"But the strings hurt my fingers!" - Thats part of learning guitar and you develop calluses within a few sessions of practice and that pain is gone forever. Those calluses to guitarists are like a toolbelt to the carpenter.
I love the idea behind this but I feel its truly ment for someone who doesn't want to "learn" guitar ( because if you do, you're going to need to master these 4 chords anyways )but more for someone who wants to simply play around and strum some of the MANY songs that can be played with these 4 basic chords. And wants to pony up the dough to do so. If thats the case, I beleive its the perfect product. But If you (or someone) is serious about learning , invest the money into the vitals you need to start your journey.
